Pirineus, el mur invisible

Synopsis

The French-Spanish border, which runs 623 km along the Pyrenees, has been subject to recurrent controls and closures by the French government since 2015. The excuse was the terrorist threat. The reality is different, Paris wants to control the migration that comes to it from Spain. The Schengen Agreements of 1985 abolished controls on the internal borders of the European Union. Now the Pyrenees border has become a blurred strip of control about thirty kilometers wide. Elsa Putelat and Nicolas Dupuis, the directors of the documentary, have been monitoring this border with their cameras and microphones for years, where at least thirteen people have died in the last three years when trying to cross it.
