The revolutionary fervor that swept Latin America in the second half of the 20th century owes much to the involvement of millions of Christians who participated in political struggles in the name of their faith. Driven by the theology of liberation, they paid a heavy price for undermining the traditional relationship between church and power. Far from Marx’s idea that religion is the opium of the people, the film explores the experiences of the men and women who believed they had witnessed the revolution and the coming of the Kingdom of God on Earth.
