“The Fabulous Ones” presents the case of a little known discrimination that affects trans people, even beyond death: often, when a transsexual woman dies, she is deprived of her identity. The families, ashamed, organize the funerals with great secrecy and engrave the male name that they were given at birth on the body. This is what happened to Antonia. Her old friends get together to invoke her, in an attempt to give her back the femininity that was denied to her in the last moments. They are stars of the extensive transgender constellation, and they bring this story to life by explaining their own experiences and reliving the records of their journey as pioneers in the fight for the recognition of LGTBI rights in Italy.
