“Picture a Scientist” is a documentary about the wave of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey through their own experiences in the world of science, which have been marked by sexual harassment, gender inequality and multiple gender-based and racist violence over the years. Along the way, from narrow laboratories to spectacular field stations, we meet a group of professionals – social scientists, neuroscientists and psychologists – who bring new perspectives on how to make science a more diverse, equitable and open space for all.
