Un autobús urbà circula per la ciutat. S’atura i puja una parella àrab. Ell s’hi dirigeix en veu alta, nerviós. Els passatgers observen amb desconfiança i preocupació la discussió cada cop més acalorada fins que un dels passatgers decideix intervenir: «Tu habibi, asseu-te…».

Amb 44 anys, Guillermo es llança a l’escriptura del seu primer guió de llargmetratge: ‘El medio hombre que salvó un imperio’. El guió deriva finalment en un ambiciós projecte de minisèrie actualment en fase de desenvolupament. El 2020 dirigeix el seu primer curt «Demente» amb què aconsegueix fins ara una vintena de seleccions i premis. ‘Habibi’ és el seu segon projecte en aquest format.
